God's Power

God can weigh fire, measure wind and call back yesterday. What can man do? Not that!

In 2 Esdras 4:1-6 we find the Angel Uriel having a discussion with a Prophet named Ezra. Ezra is inquiring about the ways of God, but he cannot grasp the fact that God's knowledge, power and ways are far, far, far greater than anything he could imagine. Uriel has a difficult time getting this through Ezra's hard head which is a mirror image of humanity in general. To often we, as human beings, refusue to believe that we are incapable of something. Many of us have a strong mentality and stubborness to accomplish anything we set our minds too, but in this scripture we read just how limited we really are.

Can you fathom the weight of fire? Even with all of our technology there is no known tool or instrument in which we can actually weigh out the mass of fire. In fact, has anyone of us ever even thought that fire had a weight? I didn't until I read this scripture today and it really put God's awsome intellect and power in focus for me. He has all power and knowledge over all elements. Yes, we can manipulate and use many of the elements God gave us, but we can't really do something as simple as weigh fire.

How many of us when a cool breeze goes by on a hot summers day can pull out a measuring tape and show how long that breeze was? No one is the correct answer. Who has invented a time machine so we can go back and correct the mistakes of yesterday? No one is again the correct answer.

God's power, no matter how technologically advanced we become, is still ultimately superior to anything we can dream up. If we as humanity could just accept God's supremecy and understand our place in His creation as mere servants, than more and more of us would be able to fulfill our destiny as children in His kingdom.
